MI-AHMP Annual Conference and Business Meeting 2018

The 2018 MI-AHMP Annual Conference and Business Meeting was held at Cleary University in Howell on Thursday, March 29th. Cleary University provided excellent facilities and food as usual. Our exhibitors included Emergency Management and Homeland Security Training Center, ESC Lab Sciences, Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, Inc., Mastery Training Services, Michigan Safety Conference, and Southeast Michigan Sustainable Business Forum.  Following our speaker presentations, MI-AHMP conducted its annual chapter business meeting.

Certificates of attendance were provided, and remember that this event may be applicable for CEUs based on your individual credential re-certification requirements.

MI-AHMP represented at the 2017 Michigan Waste and Materials Management Conference 

The Michigan Association of Hazardous Materials Professionals (MI-AHMP) exhibited a booth at the 2017 Michigan Waste and Materials Management Conference on December 13-14.

The conference was held at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.  The MI-AHMP booth was represented by Preston Smith and Jody Mathias who handed out literature, exchanged business cards, and spread the word about our organization.

MI-AHMP Annual Conference and Business Meeting 2017

The 2017 MI-AHMP Annual Conference and Business Meeting was held at Cleary University in Howell on Thursday, March 30, 2017.  2017 celebrated 30 years as the Michigan Chapter.  Sixty-five chapter members attended plus our invited speakers and exhibitors.

MI-AHMP represented at the 2017 Michigan Safety Conference

The Michigan Association of Hazardous Materials Professionals (MI-AHMP) exhibited a booth at the 2017 Michigan Safety Conference (MSC) on April 11-12.

The conference was held at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, which is a new location for the conference.  The MI-AHMP booth was represented by John McDonald, Stephen Gorham, and Julie Manley, who handed out literature, exchanged business cards, and spread the word about our organization.  The booth was conveniently sandwiched between the MDEQ booth and the Red Cross booth.  One lucky attendee, Mr. Ron Drafta, won a solar phone charger courtesy of MI-AHMP.

Fibertec, who exhibited at the 2017 MI-AHMP Annual Conference in Howell, also exhibited at the 2017 MSC.

Flint Regional Science Fair

For 2017 MI-AHMP continued as a Special Award sponsor and judge at the Flint Regional Science Fair, March 18 at Kettering University in Flint.  This year marked the 61st anniversary of the fair which serves students in grades 4-12 who live in or attend school in: Bay, Genesee, Lapeer, Midland, Saginaw, Shiawassee, St. Clair, and Tuscola counties.

The MI-AHMP awards for 2017 were:

Elementary division winner – Obai Abdulhay from City School -  Waste to Energy Tomorrow Solution - $100

Junior division winner – Andrew Meikle from Davison Middle School – A Comparison of Water Treatment Methods - $250

Senior division winner – Aarzoo Mahajan from Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy – The Effects of Metal Pollution on Diverse Aquatic Organisms - $750
